Creating the Door Charms requires 4 teams of people, all small businesses local to Charlotte, NC. Artist, Photographer, Engineer and Printer all come together to create art made to withstand the outdoor elements. Using materials calibrated specifically for outdoor use the Heather Opal Door Charms are, “Weather and Water Resistant.” Water resistant: board, vinyl, and ink, with a UV top coat, these are the highest quality materials and processes to bring you archival art for your door, porch or patio. With the right care you will be able to enjoy your Heather Opal Door Charm for years and years to come.
Care Instructions
How to hang and care for your Heather Opal Door Charm
From an over the door wreath hanger, hook or nail, hang your Door Charm using the clear picture hanging wire (included). For additional security, add one or two Command Brand Velcro strips to the back of your Door Charm, adhering your Door Charm directly to the door or wall (1 strip is included). Doors and walls vary in texture, size and materials - it is best to incorporate the velcro strips in securing your Door Charm art to your door or wall. A velcro strip is absolutely necessary to ensure your Door Charm is secured to the door… this is art, it is an investment and it needs to be handled with care.
Use a soft cloth to wipe away dust, dirt or fingerprints. Alcohol or Ammonia based products will strip away the UV coating which protects the art from fading in the sun. Handle your outdoor art with intention being careful to preserve the printed area from the risk of being scratched. This is a print of original art. The vinyl surface is much thinner than layers and layers of paint on the hand painted original artwork. Be very careful to keep your art print from dings and scratches by handling it with care and proper storage.
Safely store your Door Charm in the original shipping bubble wrap and box. It can also be stored by hanging from a hook or nail in a room, garage or relatively temperature controlled space. Use caution when choosing where to hang it to ensure the art side is not at risk of being scratched by something layered on top of it.
The Door Charms are made of very strong, high quality materials. Unless your Door Charm is adhered to your door with velcro strips take it down during windy rainy weather. The concern is less about the art and more about what would happen if it flew off the door, porch or patio and was flung into a window, wall, door or the neighbors yard.
